Spirit of Mount Vernon

The kids' first trip to Mount Vernon. I'm sure we will be going back in more detail once they are in school.

The main event, the cruise down the Potomac on the Spirit of Mount Vernon.

Mount Vernon from the Potomac.

"Birds!"

Chris holding on tight.

"Cool"

Neat tree (Chris the photographer here). Too bad we didn't get a picture of the tree that George Washington planted around the corner from this one.

Ahhh, what a back yard.

Devin's Wounds

Not a good couple of days for Devin. We've had some discussions about picking up our feet and looking where we walk. For his face's sake I hope he gets the point.

Baby doll

Devin started trying to feed baby just like Mommy so we explained that Daddy and Devin can give baby a bottle. He's learning very well. Maybe one day he can help with Gwynne.

Babies in a basket. He really seems to dote on his sister.

Getting ready for Autumn.

Liking being on our stomach. She already rolled from stomach to back and is working really hard on the other direction. Gwynne can't wait to start running after her brother.

Thank you's

Devin had a wonderful birthday - thanks to all who were a part of essentially a week of events. Poor kid. Nana and Bampa didn't even get to see the finished product of their gift so we are sending it online. Then I thought it'd be nice to do thank you's to everyone...as you can see by the next video, we didn't get far at all before Devin lost steam.

"Some Assembly Required"

Day 1. Unfortunately Nana and Bampa were off to Yellowstone the next day so Mommy and Daddy got to finish.

Birthday Boy

Devin slept all the way in to 6:30am on his birthday yesterday. And he woke up saying "Mow-Mow". I had promised he could use his mower when he woke up in the morning. He obviously hadn't forgotten.

So as soon as we had breakfast and bundled up. It was a cool morning. He was out there working on the lawn. Gwynne enjoyed watching.

In the afternoon it was time to go to his first baseball game. The Potomac Nationals. They are still the Cannons to me.

Uncle Slam. Devin called him 'doggie'. He was so excited about him, right until Grandpa brought him up to give High 5's. Then he changed his mind. We later found a plush Uncle Slam in the gift shop and Devin didn't hesitate to give that one a High 5.

Gwynne was awake for one or two innings.

Devin watched one or two innings himself, and then spent 3 more innings down behind the bleachers practicing his swing with Daddy. I think he impressed some passerbys and there were comments like "next Nationals STAR player there..."

Last Days of Summer

With this wonderful cool weather we headed out to Manassas Battlefield Park.

Devin loved 'hiking'. He lead most of the way and stayed on the path. He picked out 'bats' (otherwise known as weeds to the rest of us) on the way.

Very excited to see a cannon. We didn't get into detail about what they do.

We also liked the statue of Stonewall Jackson.

He was determined to pull the wagon.

Gwynne slept in the backpack for the hike.

And Gwynne is starting to get into the exersaucer, which opens new possibilities for me to be handsfree!!
